University of Utah University Year for Action records 1971-1977

The University Year for Action (UYA) was a federally-funded program to provide volunteers to organizations, agencies, and groups working toward the elimination of the causes of poverty. Federal grants were made to educational institutions to establish their own UYA program to recruit, train, support, and provide academic credit for students for a year's full-time anti-poverty work. The collection contains memoranda, reports, and grant material related to the placement of UYA volunteers with various social service agencies.
